45 is the correct offset...That is what the stock wheels are also..

Go with the 45

17x8's are 45mm and as I recall the the 18x8.5 are 50mm. (Ford site will confirm this for ya)

Wouldn't 8.5 with 35mm still sit inside the fender wells, or at least flush with it?

So I could do 35mm and it would work and stick out a bit ? Otherwise, the 45mm is standard, right ? Thanks guys

My wheels are 18x9 with a 24mm offset and are flush with the fenders.

1998 - 2004 GT stock 17" offset is +26mm
2005 - 2007 GT stock 17" offset is +38mm
+45mm, so +52mm would keep the wheels in the wells a bit more,

Use my Calculator to test the offset with the stock offsets, the graph with show what you have now and what the new offset will look like compared to your current wheels

Download the sheet here. http://home.comcast.net/~swieduwilt01/Mustang_Calculations.xls

you can get an excel viewer that plugs into your browser here:

On an 8" rim you won't hardly notice going from OE 45mm to 35mm(less than 1/2" difference), but you didn't indicate your rim width.
