Default Knowing your Air/Fuel ratio

Before I do any perf mods I feel like it would be good to have an OE benchmark of A/F and better yet be able to see if for any reason a change occurs.

What do you all think about this. http://www.widebandcommander.com/

i've hear around 13-1 ratio also. 12-1 is to rich and 14-1 is to lean, that'w what a tuner told me. but your mods will play a factor too.

I feel like I want to know (before and after mods, tunes) that's why I'm thinking about this: http://www.widebandcommander.com/

thats alot for that gauge though - would be cheaper to get a dyno run at baseline

i thought 12.6:1 was the happy place - but dont qoute me on that

I want to know anytime, all the time what the a/f ratio is so I can't see trips to get a dyno run being cheaper; in any event, from what I'm seeing in this post so far, noone seems to know what their a/f ratio is. I would feel more comfortable knowing that when making mods.

but once your mod is made and the parameters are established, why would it change? i mean im sure it changes slightly on a day to day basis due to the weather, altitude, prolley the gas you bought that week... whatever - but if you know its where it needs to be across the whole rpm range even daily variences probabluy would change a 12.6 to more than 12.4-12.8 all of which would be perfectly fine

i have no facts at all to base that off of, it just sounds about right

I have the Dynojet WBC and have absolutely nothing bad to say about it. Great product.

I was thinking about this also...possibly drilling into the dash right between the two air vents in the center right above the radio

Well maybe not as likely to change from a mechanical failure but the engine is controlled by a computer and software. Aftermarket parts and software are playing a role. The computer could have a particular failure that may not bethat noticeable driving but the a/f ratio may be getting progressively leaner. Having the gauge would alert the driver just as a temp gauge, oil pressure gauge, etc. would. It's simply about monitoring the operational aspects of the motor and running too lean, and likely causing engine damage is something I don't want to encounter.
