If you're starting the car with the headlights switched on, you're causing a voltage spike which is killing the headlight.

I just didnt see much of a reason to buy a complete swap...did you?

Im just wanting to figure out how to set up the relay to do this properly...once they work, thats all that matters. I got good ballast, good bulbs, and its a plug and play kit. Only issue with the kit, is actually within the car.

either way you switch the headlights on, I get the same result. Issue is not in how to hit a switch, issue is with the way the car is set up....

Of course. Ilike having high beams. Andthe Saleen really is plug-n-play. But, yeah, you do need a relay. HIDs run on much lower voltage than standard bulbs. You're overloading the ballasts when you turn on the headlights. The reason they're staying onwhen the car is off is because the alternator isn't ramping up the juice. When youstart the car, the voltage increases and that's tripping the ballasts. Even when the car is off, it's probably sending voltage that's just below the maximum the ballasts can handle.

Phillips makes great bulbs and ballasts, people actually go through the effort of rebasing Phillips bulbs for certain size bulbs. They are also OEM on many vehicles.
