Never understood the infatuation with top speed, the fun is 0-60 or 0-100, at least for me....

Aerodynamics will definitely hold you back, so you'd have to do some modification there. I really hate to say this -- but remember the old '69 Dodge Charger Daytona? With the scoop nose and the 3 foot wing out back? A factory car that would run 170-plus right off the showroom floor (due to the Hemi and the aerodynamics). My point is, as "rice" as they sound, you're going to likely need a serious (not cosmetic) front air dam, and some sort of rear spoiler to keep the rear down as well.

Also, for the gearing, if you can find some 2.73 "highway gears" you'll get more top end - 4.10 gears are more for 1/4 mile stuff.

Has anyone actually hit a computer controlled speed limiter? My ridecan walk right though 145mph. When I had my car dynoed we put the rev limiter @7000 and it hit 145mph in 4th gear. Understanding that the dyno isn't the same as the street. But it tells me breaking 145mph is no problem as long has you have the enough power to do it in 5th gear.
When I wastalking with the guy that dyno tuned my car, I asked him to remove the speed limiter in the tune so he looked for it and he didn't see anything. He then called in his resources and they told him there was no speed limiter. So back to the my original question has anyone actually hit a speed limiter on these cars? I have not yet.

I never understood the infatuation with 0-60. 0-100 is a better test. Guess I will have to move up to a Viper to get what im looking for.

ya but you dont have the power to overcome the drag, 4.10/4.30s will help you pull through 5th gear better, thus, increaseing top speed

They tested one a mustang with a Vortech and a 6 speed in the standing mile in Road and Track and it hit 192 in 6th gear with 500hp to the crank so you should be able to hit 160 with just a supercharger or turbo.

Numerous people have said they have hit it on just on this board, and I remember awhile back a magazine also testafied to the 145 limit. There IS in fact a limiter though, so youre car must have been retuned between the factory and you... anyone who has a SCTXcal or tuner knows that there is an option to remove it or enable it.

Stop me if I'm wrong but this sounds like it would have the oposite effect... It will however allow you to achieve your top speed quicker butit will not increase the cars top speed...
