4.30s would run out of RPM before reaching speeds over 150 no doubt.

I have hit 160 + with 3.73 gear and forced induction - had power left too.

Seems like a resonable explaination. The Saleen base tune that was first in thecar prior to the dyno tunemust have the limiter removed or disabled then.

and 147 on the GPS (not pictured)

I know with my SCT tuner, i can adjust or take off the speed limiter.

what you need is 3.55 gears and a lot more power. too much higher of a gear and you'll be redlining 5th just to get to 160, and you will actually lower your top speed (although you will simultaneously make it easier to reach that speed).

so supercharge your car and tune it and there ya go.

Well so far I am hearing you need 750hp to reach 160, and I am also hearing a SC or Turbo will get you there. So which is it?

I bet with the limiter removed it will hit 150. A stock LS1 Z/28 or T-A will hit 160. They are more aerodynamic but not that much more. This is the only car I haven't tested the top speed and I have the limiter removed.

The last time I did it it was 3am in the middle of nowhere and I had a deer walk in front of me at 140mph in the Formula. I'm alive because I missed it. There was no dodging, I just missed it.

I still may try the GT one day though.

A lot of what you are hearing is just speculation. Nobody can provide you a solid answer without some more data.

I have already explained the facts regarding top speeds earlier. To recap:

Your top speed will be reached whenever the power from your engine (horsepower) matches drag. The only way that gears can affect this is if you run out of RPMs before you reach your drag limited speed. Gears can limit what your maximum top speed is, but they cannot raise your top speed.

Lower gears like 4.10s will make you reach your top speed in less time, but they will never raise what your top speed is.

Your stock 3.55 gears are fine.6000 RPMin fifth will put you at 190 mph assuming the engine has enough ***** to keep up. 4.30s are not OK, because you'll top out at less than 150 instead.

I do not know exactly how much HP you need to hit 160. However, if someone here knows the drag coefficent of the car, then it can be calculated fairly easily.

That being said, the more you can do to improve aerodynamics the better off you will be. The stock car is pretty un-aerodynamic. This is a GUESS, but I'm thinking at least 500 HP at the wheels to put the stock car at 160.

If you can get a body kit that is actually designed for aerodynamics and not looks, and that improves your drag coefficient, then that can help things GREATLY. Get the aerodynamics good enough and you could hit 160 with a bone-stock engine.

Man...if you redline 5th....damn! I know in my 95 GT with 4.10's i could hit 150 pretty easily. Heck why not some 2.73 gears and twin turbos.....

I would say a SC or turbo would get you there if you can reach 145 stock you should be able to reach 160 with 475 hp to the wheels.
