My cars top end was faster BEFORE my 4:10's. I hit the rev limiter when it was stock so ordered a tune from brenspeed to remove the limiter.

My '96 GT with 2.73's definately increased its top speed when I installed 3.73's. The tos speed changed from being in 4th gear to being in 5th gear. The motor just didn't have the ***** to push it with super-highway gears. Yes, gears can increase your top speed. You have to find the happy medium between too tall & too short depending your tranny gears and power.

Are we talking about the rev limiter, is in, you got to 5th gear @ redline, with stock gears? I want your car; must have been a trip doing 200 MPH in your stock stang. Sorry, I gotta respectfully call BS.

Sorry, not rev limiter, but the speed limiter.

This is a calulation done by Don_W
you input the gear you want and it will list the top end speed and topRPM's in 100 RPM incraments..

Read this... 160 is a piece of cake... it took 3 pages before someone decided to Google?

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=106967

Vortech Supercharger and other mods.
"The heart of Vortech's basic $3,889 system for the new 2005 Mustang GT is its V2 S-Trim blower. Like all of Vortech's centrifugal superchargers, the design is an impeller wheel spun by a small transmission that in turn is driven by a belt lashed around a crank pulley.

It's the straight cut gears in that transmission that gives the Vortech its unique sound — a sound you either love or loath, but it never lets the driver forget he's piloting something special. The resulting 8.5 to 9.5 pounds of boost are fed into the engine through cast-aluminum ducting and into the stock throttle body and intake manifold.

To help the engine deal with the atmospheric crush, the fuel injectors are replaced with new high-flow units, a high-flow fuel pump is fitted and a Diablosport Predator handheld programmer is used to reprogram the flash memory in the Engine Control Module (ECM) to Vortech's calibrations.

That basic system is enough, claims Vortech, to boost total output of the Mustang GT engine up from the stock 300 to 420 horsepower while running on 91-octane pump gas. Add in the optional air-to-water charge cooler to keep the fuel-air mixture dense and that rises to 475 hp.

Still there's more power to be had. Throw on high-flowing fuel rails, a different crank pulley to make more boost and a few other tweaks and Vortech has had this Mustang make up to 575 hp.

When we had the car, it was fitted with headers and a cat-back exhaust system from JBA, but the output was still closer to 475 horses than 575. And the fifth gear in the Tremec heavy-duty five-speed transmission was taller than stock for greater top speed potential."

"In special trim the Mustang has accelerated to 179 mph in just one mile. Modifications for that exercise included unique gearing and aerodynamic tweaks like a rear underbody air diffuser and removing the rear spoiler to reduce drag.

In pure drag strip trim — racing slicks, no front sway bar, higher boost and racing gas — the car has run the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds with a 122.4-mph trap speed. During that pass the 0-to-60-mph time was just 3.6 seconds.

We sampled the car in pure street trim in which the Mustang can run a mid-12-second quarter-mile, 0-to-60-mph time in the mid-fours and reach 150-plus mph. "

I mentioned the Vortech car in an earlier post. Road and Track tested one with a 6 speed and it hit 192.

Hmmm.. Maybe nextweek I'll get together with a couple of car club guys and see what the car tops out at now with the current mods.
I only do this when I have a bunch of other cars that can go ahead of me and stay behind me to be sure the roads are clear and no cops..
I-75 is perfect for this at 2-3am on a weekday. I'm pretty sureI will get past the 150mph mark with the way the car is setup now. I'll try to get someone to ride with me and make sure the xcal2 with the laptop datalogs the high speed run, since the stock speedo is limited and I want to be able to look over the log.

Anyone know what the stock 18" BFG's are rated at..? Don't want to try for 160mph if that is overthe rated limit.

also anyone that is going to run the car at high speed do everyone a favor and check over your car before hand. Check the tire pressure, look under the hood for any small leaks (power steering, Brake fluid level and radiator). Before the run make sure you brakes are working well and make sure you have someone driving another car behind you with a cell phone inacse something happens. If you have ever experianced a tire blow out at 85mph then you know things can get very hairy if something happens at 120+mph.

Oh and for god sakes USE your SEATBELT.. (I wear my helmet as well)

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...bra/index.html

2003 Mustang SVT Cobra was able to hit 159mph and was apparently electronically limited. Only had 390hp w/it's supercharger...

Again, 160 should be no problem. Just need the $$$.
