Well so far I am hearing you need 750hp to reach 160, and I am also hearing a SC or Turbo will get you there. So which is it?
A lot of what you are hearing is just speculation. Nobody can provide you a solid answer without some more data.

I have already explained the facts regarding top speeds earlier. To recap:

Your top speed will be reached whenever the power from your engine (horsepower) matches drag. The only way that gears can affect this is if you run out of RPMs before you reach your drag limited speed. Gears can limit what your maximum top speed is, but they cannot raise your top speed.

Lower gears like 4.10s will make you reach your top speed in less time, but they will never raise what your top speed is.

Your stock 3.55 gears are fine.6000 RPMin fifth will put you at 190 mph assuming the engine has enough ***** to keep up. 4.30s are not OK, because you'll top out at less than 150 instead.

I do not know exactly how much HP you need to hit 160. However, if someone here knows the drag coefficent of the car, then it can be calculated fairly easily.

That being said, the more you can do to improve aerodynamics the better off you will be. The stock car is pretty un-aerodynamic. This is a GUESS, but I'm thinking at least 500 HP at the wheels to put the stock car at 160.

If you can get a body kit that is actually designed for aerodynamics and not looks, and that improves your drag coefficient, then that can help things GREATLY. Get the aerodynamics good enough and you could hit 160 with a bone-stock engine.

Drag coefficient is .355 Al... Get to work [8D]

Where on I-75 are you talking about.. Out by bradenton/SRQ I have no issues with it.. Nice long stretch between exits and nice verylong straightaways.. Long as you have a cell phone and some lead and tail cars, I have never had an issue with traffic or cops..

My point was that you just alerted all those cops that peruse teh intarweb of a great place to pick up big time speeders in your area, but it was "mostly" a joke...

what you need is 3.55 gears and a lot more power. too much higher of a gear and you'll be redlining 5th just to get to 160, and you will actually lower your top speed (although you will simultaneously make it easier to reach that speed).

so supercharge your car and tune it and there ya go.
More knowledge from the MASTER! hey if you bought a SHELBY and sold you GT putting it in bank account X you would still be a moron!

Thanks for all the replies. I recalibrated my speedo in my SCT2 so it reads 20 mph higher than stock, now i think im going faster because the speedo says so. I put a fake NOS bottle in the rear to help with the illusion. Also buying a "turbo blowoff simulator" so everybody in town will know i have the fastest car.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but do some GT's have higher rev limiters than others? I have an '05 GT that I can take to about 149 but I hear other's saying 143/145 is the limit?

Why is theGT so slow? Evenmy old 4 Cylinder BMW hit the 220 kmh (140 MPH). I drove it in germany so it wasn't a big deal. I just think a car with almost 3 times the power should be faster?
