True, you could probably handle some stock Vettes. ^^ However you must almost have Vette money or more in your stang.

Pretty much. There is the Z51 option, which is a performance option that includes upgraded brakes, suspension and transmission, but powerplant is the same 400 hp LS2. Word is that a new powerplant for the base Vette is coming out in 2008 that will have about 450 hp. Also, it sounds like Chevy may put out an SS version of the Vette in a limited production for 2008, with 650 hp, but rumor has it the price will be in the Viper range ($90-100K)

Z51 is the performance package. There is also an F55 package, magnetic ride selector that electronically changes the shock dampening.

Great thread. I must admit, a lot of vette drivers are older and don't push the car the way they should / could. I love my vette, but pound for pound dollar to dollar the Mustang is the best bang for the buck.

I agree with the last post. Mustang is the best value. I am not a Ford or Dodge or Chevy guy. I just buy what suits me at the time.

My last vette was an 02 C5Z06. Great car. 405 hp stock. After 3 vettes, I tried the Viper GTS. Great car too. Much more torque than the vette and torque was everywhere... didn't matter what gear....longer gears too but really a pain to drive. Way too low and my back suffered. I am really satified with the mustang. It's like a limousine for comfort and ideal to mod. Although a modded Viper can really run. Saw a 96 GTS heavily modded at the track a month ago. No longer street legal. Ran a 9.2 in the 1/4.
