Does the stock Mustang GT understeer like the stock V6 does? One thing I notice when I play around with my V6 is that, it understeers severely! Now that I'm thinking of trading my V6 for a GT, I'm hoping I won't get the same characteristics again.

Drive faster and your steering will get much tighter at ~110.

With LSD, I would imagine that it can do a powerslide easily, correct?

i still have understeer, but alot less than my friend without the pony package... I think you are going to get a fair amount of it any way you go, but the base v6's have it terribly. i would not buy another mustang if you are looking for great handling tho. hate to push you away, but come on man....this is a mustang, not an evo.

Does the GT has a better suspension than the V6 /w pony package?
Any GT owner here that has taken your car to a track?

I don't think so, I think the mustangs handle fairly well, I've drove my friends STi and of course the mustang is not even in the same league, but its not that bad.. But it isn't great..just my opinion.

Understeer has been a hallmark of pony cars since the first one was ever made. The GT understeers less than a V6, mainly because of the lower profile tires and the stiffer suspension....but they all understeer. One way to control understeer on a noseheavy car, as long as the suspension can handle it, is to accelerate through the curve. The weight transfer offloads the front suspension, and you can end up with oversteer.
Of course all bets are off if your speed into the turn pushes you past the point of no return......

The base V6's have the crappy (IMO) 16" tires and a smaller front sway-bar (with none in back too). A V6 car with Pony Pkg or 17" take-offs will handle much better. If your car is a base V6 with 16" tires, you should consider upgrading tires versus taking the depreciation hit by trading in your V6 for a GT.

From what I have been told.. and this may be bs... a V6 Pony Package handles better than a stock GT. The GT is not as well balanced due to the V8.
