87 octane and mods?
What city? Around Houston and College Station, TX.
I do very little driving in rush hour, so that certainly helps. But still mostly surface streets, stopsigns, lights, and all that business.
Keep in mind that the dash display is very inaccurate. I mean, BAD. I don't even bother to use it. If you want a better indication just use your trip meter and see how much gas it takes when you fill up.
I'm an agressive driver. But I am also meticulous about tire pressures, I use cruise whenever possible, and so on. During normal driving I shift around 3K.

I always knew I was going to go 91-Octane but I dialed in the Superchips Flashpaq 87-O tune from stock as I was running 87 at the time and the good news for you is that the difference is astonishing. These cars come out of the factory so constipated and even with the CAI and exhaust mods, my GT felt choked up. The 87-Octane tuner really loosened the car, adding torque as well as HP. It drives like a sports car now, not a canoe. As you can imagine, I have high expectations for the Flashpaq91, especially as it's been optimised for my brand of CAI.
Bottom line: Do get an 87-O tune; you'll be thrilled by the improvement if you're currently running the stock tune.
BTW, my average MPG, 80% city/20% freeway is15mpg.

I can only get 400-450km's to a tank if I only drive in town (roughly 100km's per 1/4 tank), but on the highway with the cruise set on at 120, I can get around 600km's to a tank, which to me, is VERY respectable for a V8 (and when I got that much, I had a trunk full of stuff, and had my window defroster on almost 75% of the drive, so I think I can do better with an empty trunk and with the A/C compressor for the defrost off).
I also agree that if you get a higher octane tune, and have some bolt ons and a re-tune, that your fuel economy should be about the same, as you have more hp, making the engine more efficient, and have to use less accelerator to make the same effort. Does that make sense to anyone?

Also, do you guys get headers too (along with intake/exhaust mods)?
