Default LT's and inspection in Texas

I am thinking that at some point, it'd like to do long tube headers and a catted H-pipe.My only question iswith that setup would the car pass inspection in Texas? I want to keep the car legal and not have to worry each time inspection comes around each year.

For long-term, i'm either doing a saleen supercharger or heads/cam but not until i upgrade the tranny so as not to kill it.

Longtubes are illegal in EVERY STATE. It is a FEDERAL LAW that says you cannot move, replace, or delete the cats.

Practically speaking, it is a different story. In Texas most counties do not have tailpipe smog tests. Therefore in most counties you will pass an inspection with no problem.

However, if you live in one of those counties that does a tailpipe test, then you will fail it if you are not running cats. These are typically the counties in big cities. So in this case make sure you have cats or drive to a different county for inspection.

I dont think you can drive to another county... They require proof of insurance for vehicle inspection and that's going to have your address on it.

I know this isnt true for every state, but in Texas your vehicle is required to pass an inspection once a year. This typically includes checking wipers, lights, horn, brakes, and in some cases emissions.

Yeah, i live in Harris County (Houston) and i'll have to have it inspected here.

Arwing: In Texas, cars have to be inspected (emissions and visual) every year.

Cool, the memorial area has some nice places to cruise around (especially to look at the exotics in the rich neighborhoods). I live near 610/Buffalo Speedway.
