well i would think you can go down to 255 but without the wheel size i dont know. Are you running the widest tire for the rim or on the lower end for the rim???

the rim is 19 by 9. im just trying to get a good performance tire of ebay or something. i dont run the car that much but when i do if i do i would lie to stick. im on regular tires now and i break traction hitting 4th sometimes. i would like to have a tire that willl hold a little better. but like i said i dont drive hard that much at all. so i dont want to spend a lot of money. plus im thinking of getting 18s this summer, and i got a nail in the side wall of one tire so i need to replace

Are you buying 4 new tires, or just planning on purchasing 1? A 275 is wider then a 265. They are metric sizes in mm. If you currently have 275, I'd suggest sticking with the 275 unless you want to go a little larger in the rear.
