RE: Install charges 4.10 gears
wow, that is steep. I think i paid like 250 for the gear and the install kit with all new bearings from brenspeed. I put them in myself, but it takes about 3 hours. That sounds like a shop rate of about 250.00 per hour.

Yeah thats WAY too much. Plus most dealership rearend work I hear of tends to be crap. Ask around your local area who does good gear installs and go with that. 250-350 is a good range for labor.

Mine are being done right now. It came to a total of 514. Thats with FRPP 4.10's, FRPP Gear Install Kit(Shims, Bearings etc.), Install, and all fluids etc. But not all of my stuff was purchased through the same place as well.

Thanks for your feedback on the switch from 3.55 to 4.10 sounds like the way to go. I contacted the local Ford dealership that sponsors the Mustang club here in SLC and they wanted approx $1100.00 for gears and install, or $575.00 to install if I supply the gears.
What is a ballpark price to get the 4.10's installed.
I was quoted that same price today by two different Performance shops. One shop refused to let me buy my own gears and the other said they would just increase the labor price if I did. Both were quick to me that motive gears were ****. That they were made in Italy and that what ever I do stick to U.S.A. parts. Also both said they were going to replace the bearings as well and only use the best gear possible. One said Ford gears and the other I didn't get a name. Anyway I was set to make my next mod but now I have to work harder and save more money. Either way I feel like both shops are competent and only want the best for my car so Wah on me

Must be nice. I'm driving to your neighbourhood. Also I was informed by one shop that I was only allowed to drive 50 miles a day until the gears were broken in.[&:] The break in period was 500 miles. The other shop said that was bull ****.
