Default Install charges 4.10 gears

Thanks for your feedback on the switch from 3.55 to 4.10 sounds like the way to go. I contacted the local Ford dealership that sponsors the Mustang club here in SLC and they wanted approx $1100.00 for gears and install, or $575.00 to install if I supply the gears.

What is a ballpark price to get the 4.10's installed.

Thanks

That is very, very steep. You should be able to get the gears for around 250.00 or less, add about 75.00 for bearings if needed and no more than 400.00 for the install.

I think I paid about $600 total when I had 4.10s put in my old Trans Am. Wasn't by a dealership though.

I have been calling dealerships for the same thing (4.10s for the Mustang) and no one around here will do it.

I paid $700 total for the parts and installation for my 3.73's. The $1100 seems pretty expensive.

www.blowbyracing.com has ford racing 4.10's for about 160 bucks. The install should cost around $200-300 bucks max, anymore and it's a rip off. Just search around and get estimates, but ask how many 8.8 gear installs have they done. If a few, then hang up. If they've done several and have good feedback then go with them. I've had places like panhandle performance in FL charge me 200 bucks for the install and Dallas mustangs charged me 189 bucks for an install, those are known places. places around here are from 200-250 bucks.

I got two quotes from two really good Performanceshops, one was about $550., and other was about $600. This for the Gears + install. so yeah, $1100. is way over priced, then again if your going through a dealership, there going to hit you top$$$ [>:].

That is way over board on the price for the install. Local performance shops are the way to go, but becareful of the 'chattering' clutch pack issue. When I installed my gears I started to hear the noise so have them checked by whoever does the install.

$175.00 for the install by an old time motor head in South Jersey. He's allready done others and they were quiet as a Church Mouse (his words). I am supplying everything, He's doing it 6AM Sat morning because He is closed Sat and doesn't want any interuptions. Great price.
