Default e-RAM Supercharger

Has anyone bought or tested the e-RAM Supercharger (http://www.electricsupercharger.com/) Local paper here had an article on it. Shows Dyno results and is PATENTED.

What do you guys think?

Their data looks legit, but keep in mind this is barely a 1 PSI unit!

They are claiming "up to 15 HP" and "up to 5%"....that isn't much power at all. A good CAI will do better on our engines.

wouldnt the amount of pressure built up depend on how much air the motor is sucking it? for example. a 1.0 geo metro would suck almost no air and this thing probably builds a pound or so of boost but connected to a 4.6 the engine draws more air on its own and this device could never overcome it and actually create boost.

but yeah, see the other thread about these - this one is new to me though being inline and all. kinda looks like its made froma fernco sewer pipe clamp

this product reminds me of the tornado thing that you put in your air intake. a big bunch of BS.

Yes, this is definatley true.

My point was even if this fan were blowing into a closed pipe (no air consumption at all) you'd be hard pressed to make 1 PSI, if even that much!

It is very difficult to develop pressure with an axial "compressor" (e.g. "fan"). For example, at my work we recently installed a cutting machine that requires ventilating air. The ventiliating requirements were 600 CFM at 5" of water pressure. 5" of water is equal to 0.18 PSI....not much at all! Anyway, this fan cost nearly $1000, weighs about 100 pounds, and has a 2 HP 220V motor on it!

Point is still the same...while this "electric supercharger" might move some air, it's certainly not even in the same category as a real supercharger....then again, they don't claim that. All they claim is "5%" or "15 HP max". Those claims are not unbeliveable at all.

You could probably go faster with a propeller on your ball cap!

i still think the prospect of powering a REAL supercharger or turbo with an electric motor is possible. with gear reduction or whatever, it would be possible with spin the charger fast enough and do so without drawing too many amps. hell we put people on the moon i think we could do this.
