I didnt mind the sound of the 500. But since I changed to the Z1 I just went ahead and upgraded everything and added some.

Also, the 500 or 1000 is not the wattage.....its a marketing ploy. If it is 500 watts then it has to be peak and its nowhere close to 500 or 1000 RMS which is the value that matters anyway.

 

My 1000 came with the car. No choice, but I like it.

 

base system is 4 speakers right? base radio... 2 door, 2 in the rear?

500 system is 8 speakers. 2 door, 2 subs (door), 2 in the rear, and where are the other two?

please help, I am still wondering where Ford gets the 8 speaker shaker 500 from. am I blind?

if I was ordering, I would know where the mounts were, and order the base system, upgrade as needed, save $$$

The front door 5x7s are mounted like components. It's a scam, but technically still 2 more speakers.

If you do not get the shaker systems, do the door mounts still exist for subs? just curious... has anyone upgraded subs in the doors from a base system?

I dont think they do so you will have to put a sub in yourself, in the trunk would be best.

 

you don't get door mounts with the base system, but those are only 8" and you can get better sound with larger subs mounted in the trunk

if you're not a big audiophile, get the shaker system. its actually a pretty good "factory" system... just don't sit in your buddy's car after he installs an aftermarket system

 

It is a very good base system (500 or 1000). Especially of the cost isn't going to matter for you.

 

I love my 1000, so that makes 3.
