don't waste money on that factory stuff. go with the basic, no-frills CD player. then use the $1000 on an aftermarket system

I'm in the minority, but I like mine. You get the subs in the trunk and the extra 500 watts worth of amps. I'm not an audiophile, so it douns pretty good to me.I'm also not the kind of guy that would ever bothertrying toadd amps and subs myself (I think it would be too much of a hack job), nor would I want to pay some shop to do it, so I prefer getting it with the car. The only thing I might do down the road is replace the door and rear package tray speakers.
If you're real picky about your music and/or wouldn't mind adding the stuff yourself later, then sure, save the $1200.

Stick with the 500, For alot les than $1200 you can change out all the 4x6s and add a sub like this giving you better overall sound. If you're concerned about not taking up any more space this MTX sub unit is available with an amp built in.

i got the stock system cause 1) it came with my car and 2) i didn't want the hassle of trying to install subs later. the shaker 1000 sounds damn good...

get the 500 and if you can get the base cd player. these shaker decks are the biggest POS decks ever! The subs that come with the 1000 aren't even worth the extra money, you can get a way nicer system for less then 1\2 the price. I have the 1000 by the way, it does sound nice, but not worth that much money in my opion. Just changing the deck will make it sound a lot nicer.
