I really really like the saleen hood... the one with the two black ventsthat continuously flashes over here-------------------->
I've looked around and I see prices for hoods around 700-1200 bucks! Its a sheet of metal... WTF?!?! Why so much?

I most definitely agree with you given the results of the last election, and the apparent front runner in the Democratic presidential candidate race!

I like that one as well. Speakin of people gone crazy, this guy where I get some of my parts said he could get it, paint it and put it on for 1500$ AND he wants me to give him my stock hood.

[sm=WTFsgign.gif][sm=insomnia.gif]I think not.

Keep in mind that pretty much any aftermarket hood is going to be heavier than the stock hood. From a performance point of view, that's not good. These cars are way too heavy as it is. But, I understand the eye appeal. That's a lot of money just to add weight to the car though.

Just my $.02.

I DON'T ABOUT YOU, MY 2006 MUSTANG GT HOOD IS LIGHTAND A PIECE OF JUNK. PASS A TRUCK GOING AT A GOOD SPEED, IS LOOK LIKE RUG IN THE WIND. IT RAISE UP IT THE MIDDLE BECAUSE IT SO LIGHT. ANY THING OVER 100 MPH THEY SHOULD HAVE PUT HOLE IN IT JUST TO LET THE AIR OUT. I HAVE ASK FORD ABOUT IT. THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE AND WILL NOT RIDE WITH ME.

There are many fiberglass aftermarket hoods available, and much lighter than stock. Here is a very fine hood, and the one I'll probably go with eventually. It is a functional cowl hood. http://www.stangmods.com/Steeda_Hood_p/00029.htm

That's a nice looking hood. I couldn't find how much it weighs though, other than it's 9 lbs lighter than one of their other hoods. Do you know the weight?

Not sure I beleive that there are many available that are much lighter than stock though. Do you have some examples? Most of the Cervini hoods (for example) are heavier than stock.

Cool Hood. If that's the same hood as my friend's it flexes considerably at highway speeds and above. Otherwise he seemed happy...though he now has the California Dreaming hood.
