Default Hi..New member and magnaflow magnapack question

Hi...I have never posted before but have learned helpful info around here. I just bought a Black 2007 5 speed GT and had a question about the magnaflow magnapacks.

I have tried to search but havent found anything about drone and magnapacks. I have read that the borla stingers drone around 2000 rpm but do the mags drone also.

Idont care if its real loud outside but I do alot of highway driving and dont want to have a headache. I understand a little drone may be present but are the magnapacks annoying inside.

Thanks for any help

I had them installed last week... there is a strong drone around 1800-2000 rpm.. in 5th gear its about 65MPH... I have a vert so it's somewhat intrusive to the cockpit... my stock mufflers also had a drone ( as I recall), the shop who did the work and Mangaflow themselevs said there is nothing that can be done... its the physics of the engine/pipes/mufflers.... at 69 - 71 MPH the drone disappears....so depends on how you fast you drive..

also depending on your rear end gearing the drone will be @ differnet speed than I described.... I have stock 3.55s

But they sound great in the rest of the powerband

Thanks....I also have the 3.55 rear. So as long as I stay away from 65mph will Ibe ok? On the highway I am usually around 75-80 when cruising. How loud is it at those speeds. Sorry for all the questions but I dont want to make a mistake by purchasing something that sounds bad inside.

at 72 + in 5th it sounded fine.... but I only drove it on the hwy for about 20 mins since I got the mods done... the car is a toy for me and I dont drive it every day or on the hwy much... I also have the S/C so it may sound different for you... from what I understand... they all will have some drone...

Check SLP Loudmouths or Corsa. Corsa doesn't drone at any RPM and have a great sound.

yea I also considered corsa....I had them on a 2001 corvette I used to have and there was absolutly no drone. The only thing I didnt like about the corsa is that the sound wasnt as deep of a tone that I like. Thats why I am considering magnapacks.

I have also considered the loudmouths but I am afraid that being a straight pipe exhaust might be a little too much interior noise.

Dont get me wrong I do enjoy hearing the exhaust inside....but I would also like to go on road trips and not get a headache and be able to talk to passengers without yelling

Hate to sound like a complete noob, but what exactly is a "drone" sound?

jersey boy has a V6 so they physics are different... as for ANBAUTO.... if he has headers or x-pipe etc....that changes the length of the tubes and the physics involved..... except for the MangaPak my exhaust is stock..... my shop says every car he's put them in has a drone.... depending on the other mods... the RPM band where the drone occurs will vary....
