Default TOTALLY STUMPED.......

Ok guys i just had ARH longtubes put on with a C&L CAI w/ 91 tune......I ran a before dyno on my car and it was pushing 265hp to the wheels......and after my mods i dynoed again and it only put up 301 at 5200 rpm......My Dyno guy said it should be pushing more then that. What do you guys think or know of by experience that my car should be putting out??

MODS
ARH longtubes w/ x-pipe high flow cats
IMCO extreme axel backs
C&L CAI w/ 91 tune

No other performance mods or wheels

everything else is just stock

But that's a fairly decent gain.

Im not complaining about the gain i think its pretty good also.....but i was under the impression that i would get about 315-320 rwhp.....with those 2 mods and the 91 tune......i guess i set my expectations to high........even my tuner said i should be making more rwhp....so i dont know.....I'll just have to deal with it till i get my blower this summer......

Did the guy who dynoed your car do a custom tune or just check what you are putting down. With a good custom tuner he can do some adjusting to get you more power.

1+ I think the gains are great as well and w/o the cats you might put out more. Change the tune to 93 octance and have the tuner on the dyno squeeze out a few more. Not all cars are created equal so gains are only aaverage (given each mod) until put on the dyno to get more real numbers. I think 36 hp from a CAI and tune with LT headers and cats is great! You got your monies worth.

I agree that you might squeeze more with a 93 tune and ditching the cats will gain you a few more. I think that even with high flow cats you dont really gain much over stock.

At first i was using a Brenspeed 91 tune but it was running lean and it was pingingso i just had my guy retune it
as for the 93 tune Im in CA so thats out....and i thought about catless x-pipe but i didnt want to take any chances if the cops decided to take a peak underneath...i figure if they see the cats then they wont ask to many more questions...i hope!

I'd like to know if your numbers are SAE Corrected.......

You first need to switch to 93 Octane and cut the cats. That will give you a little bit more, but not much. Are you an Auto or Manual? If an Auto, those are AWESOME numbers!!!! especially with 91 Ocatane. I mean, throw on some Pulleys and Deletes and thad be pretty sick...

Not going to happen. Power adders are not additive. In my opinion your numbers may be a little high with the mods that you show.

Make sure your dyno guy is using "SAE" and not "Standard" also if he is using "SAE" ask if the "Elevation", "Temp" and "Humidity" values shown on the software display are accurate.

Most of the DynoJets I have seen do not read the correct "Temp" and "Humidity" values. These are all very important when using correction factors for accurate testing results.

Dont get too hung up on Dyno numbers anyway. Performance is judged at the track or on the street and not strapped down to a set of rollers.
