Default Suspension recommendations, anyone?

So I've been contemplating doing some suspension upgrades to the car, because the car feels like a MAJOR pig when I try to make right turns getting onto the freeway, not to mention that I've kicked the rear end around WAAAAAAAAAAY too easily in some slides.

I was thinking of starting with just doing some struts/shocks, since I know those will give an upgrade from the stock struts that are on the car now, but I also keep seeing stuff talking about control arms and trailing arms, as well as sway bars. What I'm wondering is what the trailing arms and control arms will do for me. Do they act like ladder bars on some of the straight line cars, to help it put more traction down to the rear?

And I'm looking for something to help it corner better, not something that's only going to help in the drags, because I'm not looking to really drag race it, just improve the cornering abilities. Anyone have any suggestions? (And I'm also looking for something that can be done in stages, because I'm doing this on a budget, so doing a major kit is out of the question at this time, not to mention that it'll put my DD out of commission for more time than I can afford to be without it)

You can get the whole Roush suspension kit from Jegs for 750 bucks. Roush might not be the ultimate but for the money its probably just fine unless you are road racing. I am looking at their kit in a few months. The Jegs part # is 832-401296 on jegs.com.

This setup will stomp all over any "suspension package" you can buy. Roush, Saleen, FRPP, whatever:

Roush, Steeda Ultralite, or Eibach Pro-Kit springs
camber bolts
BMR or Spohn adjustable LCAs
BMR or Steeda rear sway bar kit
BMR or Spohn adjustable panhard bar
BMR panhard bar support.
Toicko D-spec shocks

My catalog shows 734.99.Strange the internet shows double. Guess you better call the 800 number and ask for that price. Use the source code i gave.

Yep, I looked at that yesterday, I had no plans on changing the suspension on my car but, I figured for $735 why not? Then I saw the web price$1400, practically double. I think the catalog is a misprint. I didn't call yet.
