Default 4.10 gear

my main concern about the 4.10 gear is if its a everyday drivable gear. my mustang is a every day driver and im trying to find a gear that is going to help me the most at the track but isnt going to kill me on the street. how does the gear drive and how much is it gona help me at the track??

As far as gas mileage, you'll be better than stock IF you get a Cold air intake and custom tune with your gears. If you don't get the tune, you'll lose around 2or 3mpg. At the track, you'll need some good tires to really see the benifit. the 4.10's make most of the difference at the launch, but if your tires suck, you'll just spin harder.

I deal with Southern Cali traffic and I have 4:10 gears. I drive 53 miles one way and they aren't that bad to deal with.

Calculators:
This is a Microsoft Excel Worksheet the calculates Rear End Gear changes and thereeffects to RPM and Speed. Also there is a calculator that will assist you in selecting the correct Tire size for your car including whatWheel andTires combo will fit.

Download the sheet here.http://home.comcast.net/~swieduwilt01/Mustang_Calculations.xls

you can get an excel viewer that plugs into your browser here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c8378bf4-996c-4569-b547-75edbd03aaf0&displaylang=EN (thanks to odiaz for this link)

Play around with this, change gear sizes and see effects on a graph,

+1. They're just fine for me to still comute in. Even a tip to Vegas. The traction was an issue. New tires for the track were a must.
