Here's a thought for you: "Class Action Lawsuit".

Even the serious threat of this would most likely get Ford's attention to get them perform an effective, voluntary recall to address the issue. A) Because a jury isn't going to be sympathetic to a company that has a known widespread problem and is doing as little as possible to make it right. B) Ford doesn't need *any* bad publicity right now. Better (and cheaper) for them to be stand-up guys.

The bad part of class actions is that if Ford decides to "deny, deny" then it could take years to settle and even after it does, there's never a guarantee that the settlement will include fixing your original problem (only that the lawyers get paid).

How strongly do you really feel about this?

P.S. Until someone dies and/or cars start catching fire - don't expect much help from the guvmint. Would be delighted to be proved wrong here.

Can one of the members here post a photo of the white watershield that Ford has installed on some vehicles to protect the SJB? I personally would like to see a photo of one that was installed on a 2007 vehicle, but any model year will do.

My GT was built in June 2006. I do not have any white watershield over my SJB. Thanks.

If this watershield is the white, plastic/foamy-ish sheet that directly covers the SJB... then this would include cars built as early as 12/05 like mine.

Someone else posted in one of these leak threads that Ford Service manuals even make reference to this thingy telling techs not to remove it as it is there to prevent water damage.

P.S. I like the class action lawsuit idea. I'd sign a petition or whatever to help. Mine may be fixed (still awaiting a stronger, third realtime test though) after 4 visits, but I am still afraid of the fear future buyers may have when I want to sell or trade this thing in some day. I don't want this water leak thing to interfere with my re-sale value!

If anyone can post of photo of this "white, plastic/foamy-ish sheet"- it would be appreciated.

Do other 2007 owners have it ???

My car was built in Oct. of 05. and i've got the shield. Realy don't need pics. It's just a thin piece of styrafoam (flexable) about 10x10 and about 1/8 - 1/4 in thick.

This is confusing, the water problem wasn't supposedly fixed till mid 07 models why do others have the shield and some don't?? were they installed at the dealer perhaps??? why are some 07's still having the leak?? whats going on???
