RE: Miss-fire and squeaks and rattles
It sounds like maybe the drive shaft or the motor flexed when down shifting and caused the jolts you felt. Hard to say with info given. The engine will move as well as the driveshaft when under hard acceleration. New motor mounts and a one piece driveshaft will get rid of those sounds and feelings if that is where they originated from. Later J

RE: Miss-fire and squeaks and rattles
My car isbeing repairedfor misfire on cyl. 5. The mechanic is replacing thespark plugs and all injectors, but is unsure what is exactly to blame, he seems to rule out the igniters. I had a brenspeed 93 tune on it so it clouds the issue somewhat. Will see if repair works. Also have rattle near drivers door handle. 2500k on my car.

RE: Miss-fire and squeaks and rattles
Sounds to me more like the air bubbles in the fuel pump trick. TSB 06-09-09.
If you were cruising at highway speeds for a good many miles, air bubbles can accumulate in the fuel pump..... when you accelerate (and not necessarily only from a dead stop after exiting the highway) the air pocket is forced down and presto.... hesitation.
I've had my fuel pump replaced under this TSB. My hesitations happened after long highway cruises.. then exiting, stopping at an intersection and then accelerating. BUT... prior to the fix, I also had a solid hesitation (just as you described) when I was cruising at highway speed and kicked it in to engage passing gear (same as a manual downshift). Either way... it is an acceleration and if air bubbles have accumulated, they will get sucked in and cause a brief hesitation.

RE: Miss-fire and squeaks and rattles
its the fuel pump
mine did the same thing all the time in 3rd gear on high way off ramps
ask for dash squeaks, always squeaks for me in the morn, dealers can never "hear" it
annoying really
