I pretty much want this Shaker Scoop myself. While I have mechanical ability, I cringe at the thought of cutting a hole in my hood and messing it up. I know, I know, take your time, follow instructions, take precautions, measure 4 times and then cut. Still scary!

Look at it the way I did... if you mess up, you're just out a hood. Not like you're cutting a hole in the roof for a sunroof.

Just check out my son's face in this pic, he was like, "WTF? Hope you know what you're doing, Dad!"

But, as you see, the view is amazing!

Yes, it's designed to use the stock intake and airbox.

However, it can be modified for aftermarket CAI's.

Why would you want to get air from both the CAI and the shaker scoop? I see the purpose behind them, to get lots of cold air into the engine, but don't they both do the same job? [sm=smiley21.gif]

Good question, Bill (nice name btw..). To be honest, with the CAI in place, it's mostly if not all cosmetic. Although at high speed, I can see 'some' benefit from additional 'cold air' coming from the scoop and being directed at the conical filter. How much additional HP will this provide? I have no clue.

Now let's discuss the Shaker adapted to the OEM airbox. Having it hooked up this way, in asealed enclosure (versus an open heatshield),does provide additional cold air to the filter, even without forward motion of the car.A friend over at TMS conducted a little experiment andcaptured it on video.

Hey Jason! 1st time!
However, 2 of my buddies over at TMS did theirs right before I did mine, so I was able to ask questions about the install. But, I had no help when adapting it to the K&N CAI, that required a little customizing.

This is a little OT, but does the skaker actually shake like the old ones?
If not, is there any way to make it shake? Just something I've always kind of wondered about the new 'scoops.

At idle, not really. These modern engines are pretty well balanced. But, when you get on it, the engine torque is enough to move the Shaker (dips towards the passenger side).
