Default small scratch

I have a small scrach on my hood and it seems to go to the metal
any guess as to how much it would cost to fix
and I don't want to use touch-up paint

I have a really nice rock chip on the hood and a good scratchon the lower portion of the pass-side door, both are deep in the paint, maybe to the metal on the hood.

I took the car to the dealership's body shop (for the hood scoop that doesn't fit flush with the hood) and asked about fixing the paint. They said they would do it for $100 to $150. I've seen their work and found they do a really nice job but their scheduling is ridiculous (about a month out), price to do the job (~$150-ish) and the length of time required to do the job ("A couple of days") is kinda putting me off for a while. As long as I dont look at it I can deal with it. Besides, I've determined that my '07 GT will catch any and all flying objects; even stuff that's being kicked-up from two states away!! I've never cought this much stuff from all of the other cars I've owned/driven combined!! Oh, I've got a nice little chipin the pass-side windshield too. Nice.

It is not fixable! Drive it straight to the crusher!!

I dont think it should be too expensive....I have a small place on my fron bumper that got hit when something got kicked up from the road. I dont claim to be a body man, but im sure they will have to sand, prime, and paint the entire hood? It was suggested to me to take it to the bodyshop my ford dealer uses in hopes that they will get the paint match right.

I just fear that the spot might rust

I had a 97 Chevy Monte Carlo with a similar scratch. It was an eyesore, but it never rusted. I didnt give a crap about that car, but if the same occurred on my Mustang, I would seriously take a look at getting it fixed. More so for the appearance. Something that small, I assume, would take YEARS to rust to the poimt of it being noticable. By then you will have long since had it fixed!!

Leave it. If you fix that scratch you're just going to find another one. I have chips in the WEIRDEST spots. One is on the far right corner of my gas cap door thingy and the other is near the edge of my trunk - both very small. It had to be a pebble or rock kicked up by a stupid 18 wheeler. None on my front spoiler though?!? Weird.

You don't have to worry about rust. The hood and front fenders are aluminum.

Fendersaren't aluminum. I know, I welded in the emblem alignment holes and antenna holes.
