Use locktite and it will no longer "jiggle."

What secures the boot to the shifter? I mean... can it move?

It is.....you have to put the hard uubber grommet in the boot. Takes some GENTLE persuasion but it will go. Slide the rubber grommet over the shift lever, snap the boot back to the center console, screw the jam nut on the top of the shift lever, screw the shift ball on, adjust the jam nut with a 9/16" wrench, and you got it!

are the throws shorter? seems odd to make the shifter longer, but i think it looks awsome.

Where do you use loctite at? Underneath the car for those bolts, or for the bolts holding the stick on? Or both?? Just want to know, because I am installing this shifter in my car sometime this week.

Yes! very much shorter. The stocker shifter would almost hit the console in 1st, 3rd.

I used loktite on the 2 botls in the shift lever itself. From reading posts prior to me installing mine, this was the most common place where you would get a rattle if you dont really crank those 2 bolts. Loktite, of course, will keep them from working loose.

Good luck with the install! Its fairly easy. I would suggest a "ratchet wrench" for the bolt at the end of the shifetr arm.(attached to the transmission) if you have one. A boxed end wrench was a PAIN.......but very do-able. Theres no way to get a socket up there.
