Default Ford saved every 2007 GT owner $1,000?

Just a thought. Could this be why Ford went from 3.55gears to 3.31 gears in the 2007 Mustang GT?

If Ford had of left the 3.55gears as standard equipment in the 2007 GT, the vehicle would have had slighter worse gas mileage and would not have met the ever increasing EPA MPG minimum to avoid the $1,000 gas guzzler tax.

Sorry if the has been discussed before, as I don't read all the GT postings.

I think the minimum required mileage is based on the model without options.

Yes and only on GT's with manual transmissions. 3.55's have a $100 sticker price.
