Default 06's and 07's faster?

Why do some of you guys say the 07's are slower than 06's? Is it because of the extra structural support from the GT500? The latest Road and Track estimates the GT's weight as 3600 lbs. Where the 05-06's were around 3400 lbs.

Anyone shed any light?

I believe the 05's & 06's were something like 3485, which makes the 07 only about 87 lbs. heavier (see 2k05GT's posting below with specs from Car & Driver!).
Not only has it been structurally improved however, but the steering was improved as well.
Not a bad trade-off at all if you ask me for only a lousy 1 / 10 of a second difference (5.0 as opposed to 5.1 for 0 - 60)...!

If every 07 owner and his wife or g / f goes on a diet, that should take care of the weight difference right there...

I believe the 05's & 06's were something like 3485, which makes the 07 only about 115 lbs. heavier.

For the manual's at least, the reason they feel slower is that the diff ratio is 3:31 for improved gas mileage, which is why the 3:55 is a popular option.
