I just realized something about v6s
Their horsepower is lower than so many popular cars, wth was ford thinking? the gt should be at 400 and the v6 at like 300 dont you all think so
look at this new ford car with awd and more horsepower than mine: http://www.fordvehicles.com/Cars/2008taurus/

RE: I just realized something about v6s
To put the GT at 400hp, the cost would go up a lot and it would no longer be the best bang for the buck sports car on the market. Putting the V6 at 300hp would bring in a price well above $18k (closer to the $25k price tag of the GT). It's all about price.

yea but its also about actualy car performance, back in the old days mustangs and camaros and all others ran together around the same speeds and now they cant seem to duplicate that, I hope they do, at least to 260 or something and have an option for a hard top that folds away like the survey i did for their website today

RE: I just realized something about v6s
If you want the HP you pony up for the GT, otherwise the 6 still has good power and is more economical, its a V6.....its that simple. There are many cars that have 300+ hp also but that doesnt mean that the mustang has to have more than them. What do you mean "all others ran together around the same speeds and now they cant seem to duplicate that." Mustang is the only one in production currently! The new camaro is not out yet and its going to be more than the mustangs for sure so even if it has more power....you will be paying for that, its not free.

$19,000 for pony package v6 +$80 for 2 GT takeoffs + $600 for C&L CAI and custom Brenspeed tunes/xCal = Bang for your buck in a great looking package.
Taurus = Company Vehicle.

RE: I just realized something about v6s
Newsflash: Most people that buy the V6 don't care, and everyone that buys a GT knows that 100 more HP is easy to add. There's a reason that the Mustang is Ford's flagship, and a reason that GM and Dodge haven't figured out how to sell pony cars, and a reason that cars that can outpower themdon't outsell them. Hint: it ain't horsepower, it's image and style and price. Ford knows the formula, others don't. If you think that Ford is going to screw with the equation just to make us 5% of the market happier, think again.

More power would be better, but for the price the V6 'Stang still has good power, and torque. Especially for a car that starts just under $20K. 210 HP, 240 lb-ft.
Other sporty cars with a higher base price than the V6 Stang, and less power... (and really more generic styling as they are mostly just tarted up economy cars)
Civic Si 197/139
VW GTI, 200/207
Cobalt SS S/C 205/200
Some other V6 coupes would have more power, a Pontiac G6, Accord V6, etc, but to get into those, the prices tend to reach into V8 Mustang territory.
I dunno, I guess I just don't see the V6 Stang as being underpowered based on it's price. If it were priced in the mid 20's, it would need 240-260 HP, but then again, the V8 Stang is in that territory with 300 HP.
BTW, whats all these threads lately about how the GT needs 400 HP, with the reasoning being the GTO and eventual Camaro will have 400. The Mustang with 300 HP will hang with a GTO, and should hang with the Camaro too.
The upcoming Pontiac G8 V8 has a listed curb weight of 3995 lbs, and a V8 packing 362/391. At that weight and power figure, it's not going to be the fastest car on the street. The Camaro, built off the same platform and not having gone on much of a diet, is expected to come in with a curb weight of around 4000 lbs too, which negates much of the HP advantage as it does in the GTO.
If Ford bumps the GT's HP even up to 330 or so in a future year, the 'Stang will compete well with the GM Zeta cars.

Very true.....you still cant beat the styling of the mustang and it will still kick many cars with higher HP butt!

your right i was just comparing to the link i posted which rated that ugly tauras at 260hp with a v6 and i was just wondering why ford didn do that with the v6 mustangs, our engines are better than those but why didnt they get the additional horsepower out of them ?
