Default car cover question[s]

So I've got an '07 GT Coupe that I have to park outside. I'm in DC so the air is awful, as are the roads, and the weather is all over the map so all it takes is one drive for it to get dirty. If I want to make it rain, I just wash my car! My questions are:

1) does the car have to be spotless when you put the cover on to avoid scratching it when you take it off?

2) how much of a pain is it to take it off and put it on just about every time you park it for the night or drive to work in the morning?

3) how long does it take the cover to dry and will it dry in the trunk over a 10-12 hour period?

4) I'm assuming it's worth the $150-200 for a good one?!

Thanks in advance!

it's def. worth it to have a good cover.

no the car doesn't have to be spotless just don't leave a weeks worth of dirt on it then cover it.

it is a pain to get covered when you first start doing it but once you get to know your cover it's a breeze

Any recommendations as to a particular brand? I've heard Wolf is good. And some other brand has a "Noah" version that looks high quality.

Alright. . . I'd have to go with the Strormproof, but that looks like a great product at about the same price as the others.

I have custom fit Noah car covers for all of my cars (except the mustang since that still gets garage preference). I've used them on and off for years (in Northern VA) with great success. Custom fit is the only way to go. A NOAH custom fit will run you around $200.

I recommend that the car IS spotless before you cover it. If you put a small piece of dirt between a car cover and the paint, you have invented sandpaper. Now truth be told I had sometimes put the cover on the '89 5.0 after a short ride, and I did not notice any scratches but that was "old" paint. I am more careful with the CTSV.

I have never scratched the car taking it off or putting it on.

It takes about 60 seconds to put on or take off if you do it enough to get the system down (you always know where the front is, etc.).

If it is wet I don't put it in the trunk; instead I put it in the house. It does dry if you leave it on the floor in a ball. I don't know if it would dry in the trunk, and I don't want to get the trunk all wet.

I don't cover the cars when parked for short periods or at parking lots. Though the thought of door ding protection is nice, it seems a bit overly **** and the cars will always have some amount of road dust or road grit.

It also draws needless attention to your anality by those who might be envious.

These are my opinions and thus my two cents.

I purchased my online through Costco. I must say it was less expensive than ordering it straight from the company.

It's manufactured by CoverKing. There is a guy on this forum that works for that company and could answer any questions you may have about their products.
It is a custom fit. I didn't put a hole in it for the antenna but rather unscrew it and stick it in the truck while the cover is on the car. That way you don't have to bother with grommets or a patch to keep it from ripping or tearing.

What the other posters say about a clean cover on a clean car is true as far as keeping your car "scratch free." Right now my car has to stay outside the garage (until we get another one built this summer) so I have been using the car cover on it. I just make sure I wipe it good with a microfiber towel and some detailing liquid like Meguiars.

Ah, forgot about the ole antenna! So far, looks like my idea of puting the cover on there before and after work may not be as practical as I once thought. . .

It can be done. It takes me about 2 minutes tops to take off the antenna off, stick it in the truck and put my car cover on. That's if the car is clean. If you have to wipe it down, that will take a little more time. Get to work a little earlier, in the long run it will be worth it!

When I put the antenna back on, I hand tighten it only. That way, you don't have to carry a wrench too.
