I had the same problem with my Hooker AeroChambers. At first, I removed EVERYTHING from my trunk, including the spare, just to isolate it. That did take care of most of the noise - just junk in the trunk that's buzzing around. The S197 trunk is a HUGE resonance chamber, and anything in it is going to buzz like crazy. There was still somebuzz left, which went away later by itself. I just attribute it to "breakin".

I have the same problem. Thought it was exhaust pipe related. I took it to the shop and we could not see anything with the pipes to cause it. It seems to do it at low speeds slow downs. When I come to a stop sign and start to slow I hear the vibration that sounds like it is under the dash passengers side just inside the engine compartment. If I put it in neutral as I stop I do not hear it. Any ideas?

I had a similar rattle on the passenger side for a while with my GTAs, even though the rattle was not as loud as some folks describe it here. Then I realized that there was some play between the muffler and the over-axle pipe, even though the clamp was very tight. The problem was the position of the clamp. I moved the clamp closer to the edge of the muffler pipe, re-tightened everything, making sure that I had a good seal, and I haven't heard the rattle since.

I fixed my problem. I had a serious vibration problem when i installed my off-road h-pipe. The vibration came up into the center console and was LOUD on the inside. It seemed to get better when it warmed up. It also seemed to be worse when braking and turning.

I tracked it down to the hanger on the h-pipe rubbing the metal surrounding the gromet. The hanger had to be pushed all the way into the gromet to fit right to the header and when this happened, the hanger was rubbing the outside part of the gromet (which is metal). This vibrated the metal plate that sits right in the middle of the car on the bottom that the gromets are attached to and the vibration ran straight up into the interior. I had to bend out the hangers a little bit to allow space between the back of the hanger and the gromet. Once I did this, the vibration was fixed.

Before that, there was another vibration due to the hanger on the passenger side hitting a bolt. I bent the hanger a little big downward to clear the bolt and that was fixed.

Good luck.

There is a TSB on this. It involves putting a hose clamp around the exhaust hangar on the crossmember for the tranny. Had it done to mine.

Well, when braking, I heard the vibration but it was a low-pitch vibration. When turning, it was similar. When cold, it was severe and rattled my center console.

If you look under the car on the mid-pipe...there will be a hanger on each side. The horizontal end that fits into the gromet was pushed all the way in on mine and the angled part that went to the h-pipe (forming a 90 degree angle with the horizontal part) was rubbing the casing of the gromet. I don't have a picture but I can draw one and scan it. I suck at drawing but can probably portray the problem I was having.

Please do, but if I know what your saying, mine is not having that problem. If I remember correctly, the hanger is not all the way. But your having the same exact symptoms I am to the T. I'm glad though finally someone found a fix and hopefully mine will get fixed. But there is a plate your saying thats underneath the car thats vibrating? I'll check when I get home tomorrow from work. Its to late now
