Anyone ever remove factory hood scoop?

Anyone ever remove factory hood scoop?
I am having vinyl stripes put on my 2007 Mustang GT that has the factory hood scoop. After the stripes are applied the scoop will be reinstalled over the stripes. My installer doesn't have any experience removing the scoop so has anyone removed one before. Or do you have any directions to remove it without damage to the hood, the paint, or the scoop.
Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

Just pop the hood and look underneath where the hood scoop is. Just a couple of bolts and violla!

They must have a method to break the tape loose. Thats what I need to know.

I think some people have used dental floss to take off the fake gas cap?
Speaking of tape... That may be why my scoop doesn't fil flushly on the two corners (closest to the windshield) - doesn't match the hood's contour perfectly. Does anyone know where to get some really thin 3M automotive tape besides a body shop? Have't checked Schucks or Pep boys yet. TIA.

Well, when I removed my Roush scoop to apply my stripes, I used a plastic bladed scraper/putty knife to release the 3M tape. Following that, I used alcohol to remove the residual adhesive. Did not damage the hood or scoop whatsoever.....but I also knew the area would be covered by the scoop upon re-install....
If your scoop is going to sit on top of the stripes, you may want to consider cutting out the scoop area of the stripe. Regardless of how secure the scoop is, it will rub the stripe and bunch it.......

Hey let us know how removing the hood scoop works out for you. I am thinking about having mine painted black and was wondering if it would be easier to have it removed to be painted...I would assume so, just to make sure no paint gets on the hood itself. Anyone else have any thoughts on that? I think a black hood scoop would look pretty good. Also, a black spoiler? Just an idea...

I haevn't tried it but I've read heat then use a piece of fishing line in a sawing motion to cut the 3M tape. Kind of the same as the dental floss without the minty freshness.
