As the others and myself mentioned...the 4.6 3V is a newschool engine...need to use the tach...not like the oldschool pushrod V8's like the on in my Silverado that you don't wanna rev...the engine in the GT "Gets up and dances" above 4000rpm...

You sure it wasn't a 6?
Probably not, even our 6's perform better than he is talking about if you're in the right gear. From a 40mph roll, I'd be in third. Sounds like he was in 4th or 5th and was down too far in rpm's .

And then there's also the dreaded drive by wire throttle lag.
Is there a solution to ultimately eliminate this?

Need to rev higher, and with some real basic mods it should def. liven up. Plus it looks hell of a lot better than a GTO. Gto looks like it could come right off a rental lot at the airport. No flasj or appeal to it.

Before I bought my GT, I was considering a left-over 06 GTO and test drove a 6-speed. The GTO does feel much faster in a 2nd gear, 30 mph or so kick. It has the shove-in-the-back feel that the poster was questioning. The speed in the Mustang is more deceptive. My car is still stock. I took my brother for a ride. I launched pretty hard but not enough to spin the tires, then full throttle acceleration up into 3rd up to 80. He said that it didn't feel that fast and was shocked when I told him it was 0-80. The Mustang is a fast car but with the power coming higher on the tach, it doesn't always feel like it is accelerating as hard as it really is.

I get plenty of pushback even from 20mph in 2nd gear

I've got 4.10s and just about every N/A mod out there so I guess that really doesn't count.

Hell, just for fun, I used a Passport GT2 timer to measure my 0-60 mph time using ONLY SECOND GEAR.I launched at 2500k rpm in second gear and still managed to pull a 5.63 second0-60mph time. Again that was all in second gear, and I bogged a little too (I should have launched higher since I was in 2nd gear). This car kicks ***, and it just starts kicking more *** when you start doing the bolt-ons.

When I first got my car I thought it was fast and then I have modded it but to get to the point I tried my other tunes compare to the brenspeed and that car was horrible. Now with the brenspeed tune back in it's nothing but fast.

if feel the same way. my car feels slow to me, but when i look at the speedo it says different. i had an 04 with a bunch of bolt ons before and it felt faster but when i race the same guys i pull them harder in the new car.
