TSB confusion
What exactly is a TSB. I know what the acronym stands for, but what are they? Problems that ford recognizes and will fix without arguement? Does the car have to display problem before TSB will be looked into? Or could I just bring my car in and tell them I am having these issues before i actually have them... IE, i am going to San antonio for St. Patti's Day... 3 hour drive... is my fuel pump going to blow up? ( i think there was a TSB for that one)
Really i guess I am asking should ford be looking for these problems since they are TSB'd or do we have to recognize them first?

I know that the eventual TSB for my thunking front end problem will only be fixed on cars that have the problem. (documented) So no, I don't think you can go in and say "I want all the TSB's work done to my car".I understand you thoughts. What if it happens on the road. Well, that's why you call the Ford phone# for road service. I'm with you though, I'd just as soon have them fix it before it breaks but Ford won't do that. They don't want to fix it even when it's broke.

Wingman got it right. Technical Service Bulletins "TSB's" are toolsthat technicians use to diagnois "known" problems. If there has been a trend or something that was identified as a possible problem, then a TSB is issued to try and cut down Diagnois time and get the vehicle back to the customer sooner. You can't go to a dealership and say I want TSB 062203 performed because they are not recalls. But if you come in and say my CD player is skipping or my convertible top is showing signs of wear well then the TECH will pull your VIN and see what TSB's apply to your vehicle. If something comes up that looks like your problem then that's where they will start. Hope this helps.
Oh and the TSB for the Fuel Pump isn't for failure it's for a hesitation after a long period of highway driving. So you'll be fine on your trip.
