Exhaust sound quality is such a subjective thing, but I have FlowMaster 40s on my Marauder and I think it sounds fantastic. Based on that experience I plan to put the axle-back Flow kit on my Mustang.

Not to muddy the waters here, but I have a Mac Prochamber w/stock cats and Mac axle back mufflers. The Macs are a bit louder/throatierthan the Flowmasters. This might be a good middle groundfor you. I can tell you the prochamber did not change the sound much at all.

My advice would be to get the LM's if you areinterested in a loud exhaust and try them.

This is so subjective - but consider this: There are quite a few owners who try to sell their LMs on here. How many are trying to get out from under their Flows?

Im one of the people trying to get rid of my LM's but for a reasons. When i had stock H and cats, they sounded GREAT! I wouldnt get rid of them for anything. But once i put the o/r X pipe on there i needed something with a muffler. If youre staying stock h pipe, LM's are the way to go. If youre planning on ditching your cats then i say its way too loud.

We have Flowmasters with the Pypes O/R H and it sounds amazing. Inside the car sounds almost stock until you hit the gas then its still pretty tame. Outside is another story. Its sounds really good with just a hint of raspy and only for a second. No drone yet ....

I agree with one of the posts up above. The loudmouths mixed with an O/R Pipe is something other then desired by most. It's loud, it's mean, but it's not a clean sound throughout the powerband. Hence why when I redo my exhaust, I too will be looking to sell them off.
