Default 2006 V6 pony package

Hey guys,

Need a quick reply to this one. Looking at subject Mustang at used car lot. Has 32K miles, asking 15.5K for it.
My question is, how can i positively confirm the presence of the 'pony package'?

Thanks for you quick replies, planning on buying today..

Here's a little snipet I found on this forums, hope it helps some:

The 2006 model had no huge changes (from 2005), subtle changes helped to entice new buyers. The V6 models got the new option of the "pony package". This package was available on any new base model Mustang and it included a 1965-like grille with the 'pony in the corral' and the small grille mounted fog lights. The Pony Package also comes with the 17" wheels that were standard on the 2005 GT models, as well as a suspension package similar to that found on the GT as well as ABS and traction control.

And another article: A bit long, but great info...

I have an 07 with Pony Package. It does have the grille with lights and pony, 17" rims and the fender badge. Does NOT have ABS or Traction controll. Those were options. Also the 07 Pony package cars came with the Mustang decal down the bottom side.

Thanks guys. Appears this car does not have the pony pack. But from looking at this grille w/ fog lamps, I like the plain better.

What do you think of the asking price?

That would depend on a lot of things, but did you get a chance to run it by Kelley Blue Book or other to get a general idea? You did not mention year, but I assumed it was an 06 based on the mileage. Also, take to a mechanic to have it checked out, drive it aroun in the hwy and city to get a general feel.

According to what Kelly Blue Book says, it's worth $17,115, but that's for the basic stock with no options. I would definitely get a mechanic to check it out.

Not positive but the Pony Package may also have included the side stripe.

When I bought my pre-owned '06, it did not have the rocker stripes. The stripes are easy to pull off, so the orig poster cannot use the presence/absence of a stripe to tell if it is/isn't a PP car. Does it have a rear sway bar? In '06, non-PP cars do not have a factory rear sway bar. There's also the tri-bar badges on the fenders, but they too can be added.

As a reference point, I paid $18K for mine in Nov 06, with only 10K miles on the clock.

Look for the small fogs in the grille and the pony.
