Default T50 torque bit correct size for gas tank strap?

I'm trying to change my upper control arm, but the gas tank strap bolts are being a bitch! My T50 bit seems to small and I think it's starting to strip the bolt head. Che says it's a T50 and i can't find any of my other torque bits. Are these things supposed to be this tight coming out?

I need some mother ****ing air tools!

Why the **** do they have to use these stupid ****ing torque bolts!!!!! Why can't they use standard bolts on everthing?

Anyone here change the upper control arm themselves? Were the gas tank strap bolts tight all the way out?

I'm afraid i'm going to strip the mother ****ers and be screwed.

Are you changingout the mount as well? If not and you have a calibrated elbow and are comfortablewith gutentight torque on the forward UCA bolt, just leave the tank mounted and remove the three UCAmount bolts. That will give you enough play to get the forward UCAbolt out. I've done it on my last couple of UCA jobs w/o issue Mine were all tight but they all came out eventually. Air tools do help a ton though

I would suggest getting a buddy to help you torque the forward UCA bolt since it does require a double wrenching method.

I'm not changing out the mount. So you're saying I shouldn't have remove my rear seat and the mount bolts?

No, no, undo the three bolts holding the UCAmount on. That way the mount is all theway loose andyou can get the fwd UCA-to-UCA mountbolt out. I just did one yesterday for a buddy and they are a PITA.

I got it off the mount. *** the gas tank straps, i'm lucking I was able to retighten them without stripping them.

The che upper arm has a pinion snubber on it. This is supposed to face down towards the pinion right? Seems like a stupid question, but it also seems like the nose of the pumpkin will never rotate up high enough to hit the snubber.

Yepthe snubber issupposed to be facing down. Did the WD-40 work for you?

I gave up trying to get them out. I sprayed the Wd40 on them, but didn't try to remove them again. I was lucky I was able to retighten the drivers side at all, it was tight!

Removing the mount is not necessary like you said. I was able to remove the stock arm and retorque the bolt with the new arm in place with much less effort than it was taking to drop that gas tank.

Be this a warning for anyone trying to lower their gas tank. The torque bit needed is not a standard T50, it's a torque plus T50IP

It has rounded edges instead of sharp edges. It isn't necessary to remove the upper control arm mount. Just remove the bolts so you can get to the bolt that holds the control arm to the mount.
