Default Tire Sizing Questions????

Ok,I just got some American Racing Torq-thrust Rims, got 17X10.5 rears. My question is I want to go with Nittos NT-450s, inwhich they are 275/50/17, now this will give me a new 27.88" diameter compare to the stock tires and rims of 27.2"so theresonlya .68 difference in hieght. Now according to the shop I'm buying the tires from, there telling me going to a larger diameter tire then stock can hurt my transmission??, but going to a smaller diameter tire say 26 inch wouldn't [&:], True or False Guys

Oh, and also the Nittos have a 745 rev per mile, compared to are stockers of 766, now I have the SCT hand tuner, and can change tire sizes, but with only being off by 21 revs per mile, this souldn't even really effect the speedo, and be an issue??

Thanks guys

Well, it will throw your speedo off some... the speedo will read slow... but you should be able to fix that easily with your SCT... assuming you have an X-Cal2 and who ever you bought it from enabled the end user options.... simply put in your new revs per mile...

as far as hurting your tranny... that's a new one on me! LOL! I've run tires as big as 28.5" on my with no problems...

Thanks Guys, thats what I thought. Oh and yeah, the 17X10.5s are not in our offset. These wheels will stick out about 1/4 to 1/2 inch past the fender. Going for the Drag car look, if you couldn't tell already, LOL.A member on here,Forensicsteve has the same size rims[sm=smiley20.gif].

dont know on the tranny issue.... but you'll be about 6% off on your speedo... great calculator for tire sizing..... but the SCT can fix the speedo issue...
