The laptop runs the GPS for me. A power inverter powers both the laptop and the Xbox. I'll post some more pics this afternoon.

Woah. okay this project is really cool but alot more detailed than i thought. Okay so let me get this straight so you got your car powering an xbox a laptop and a moniter? the xbox is hooked up to the back of hte moniter, then to the trunk same with the laptop? woah this is tough, not only that you also have the poweron switch to your consol, and you managed to add gps?

i feel weak im 17 too and you owned me

I definatly like the look. You did a great job of fitting the LCD's bezel to the control panel. Did you bondo fill and paint to get that to work? I would love to try this on my Mustang somtime down the road. Few more questions...how do you listen to CDs and is there anyway to get the radio to work via the carputer setup?

Thanks! Actually, the liliput from the store at mp3car.com was a very close fit. The monitor is a rectangle, but has a small hump at the bottom center. I trimmed the stock bezel with a dremel tool to make the monito fit. I then uses small rectangular pieces to epoxy the monitor to the back of the bezel. This thing is very strong, and has a good fit. Because it is a laptop, I just downloaded all my music onto the laptop. Centrafuse organizes the music into folders, which is really easy to use while driving. I have a couple hundred songs from CDs downloaded right now. As far as radio, there are quite a few options. You can buy an xm module for the computer for under $100, and pay for the XM subscription. Or there are a few other am/fm radio devices that Centrafuse is designed to work with from $45-$100. If you have anymore questions, let me know.

My laptop is about 4 years old, and it also has the LCD cracked. This made is perfect for my car because I couldn't use it anywhere else. The PC is mounted in the right hand corner of the trunk near the seatbacks. I'll try and take some pics this afternoon. I haven't had any problems running it in the winter or summer, though I will probably build an enclousure and add a few fans.

This is an excellent idea..I have a spare laptop thats out of comission cause the LCD cracked. Fairly new..maybe a year or so old. Where did you mount the PC? In the trunk? And if so do you have an overheating problems during the summer months?

that!
