Default window tint ?

Just wanted to know if the windows on our cars already come with some kind of very light factory tint on them. I want to have mine tinted but wasnt sure if i was going to have to spend the extra 100 bucks to have the factory stuff removed first.

Yes they do, but as far as I know you can just tint over them and off you go.

You can't remove the factory tint. The glass is slightly darker, it's not a coating like aftermarket tint. Just get 5% (limo) and you'll be good to go........at least that's my preference.

35% looks pretty light. I'd say go at least 20%.

Check your local state law's first. Here in Missouri, you can't go darker than 35% on the drivers and front passenger doors, the rest can be as dark as you want, if you have outside side mirrors.

i went with 35%, all the way around, on a black stang, it looks just fine, and I can still see out at night ok.

Make sure you get the tint shop to use some kind of felt or moleskin on the doors to prevent tint scratches.

If you want to see the factory tint just roll down the windows 1/2 way! Or, even better, wear a pair of sunglasses that are polarized. You'll see the tint all broken up. Hopefully tinting over that will help. I did 35% and it's pretty good while still street legal in Calif.

Wrong. 0% is legal in Calif.

I know this because I have an outstanding $112.50 Ticket as of right a few days ago. Though I do have 5% - I went straight to the court and talked to the clerk, as well as three police officers informing me that California does notallow ANY tint of the passenger/driver side windows.

Playboy, so not even the factory tint is allowed? Holy mother ofthe baby Jesuswhatdoes that half communist, half islamofascist, half Beverly Hillbilly andhalf well-tanned state legislature have to restrict before the true beleivers in the bordering states rise up as one in righteous indignation and push it off into the ocean? A while back some of the news entertainers on the Fox noise channel started a very pleasant syncopated drumbeat to that very effect and I'm surprised it fizzled out. Maybe now that this tint issue is being brought to everyone's attention we'll finally give that state and it's overhyped contribution to our national economy the heave-ho

I have 20%, wanted slightly darker but the law is 35% anyway. 35% is very light really so if you can go darker it would be best. You have no problems seeing out the 20%
