Has anyone tried these G-Tech meters, and compared their readings with track times or dyno's. I was thinking about getting one to check the performance of different mods.

I have one that I use as a reference point for when I do things to my car. As long as you do it in the same place each time, you should get an idea of the gain you're getting with things. It seems pretty accurate, but I am sure it isn't 100% accurate.

I hear they are decent, but not perfect. It should give you a generalidea about how your mods are helping though

I think one of the car shows on Horsepower TV tested one once and it was only a hair off what the dyno showed as far as horsepower readings.

I might be willing to part with mine if the price is right. It works great, it's just that the novelty wore off. It's a Gtech pro RR and has been used maybe 5 times. I purchased it last summer for $270.

I actually used mine at the strip the last time I went; it was off by .02 sec avgon each run. One run said I ran a 9.61 in the 1/8th mi; my time slip said 9.63. Another said 9.48; timeslip said 9.49. I'd say that's close enough.

The Road Race function I'm not sure about, since I haven't had much of a chance to use it yet (haven't had a chance to use it for autocross since I got the new update for my older GTech meter) but it's a great tool. I've got some baseline runs established now for tuning purposes, and it should be able to show me an approximate gain in HP/Torque when I do things like a tune/CAI.

No prob...Just make sure that you get the revs dialed in correctly, and that you get the weight of the car dialed in correctly as well. Both of those have effect on how the time reads for drag strip testing, as well as the hp/torque. It's pretty straightforward, and if you do have any questions, Gtech's website DOES have a forum that you can go to that will help you out as well.
