Keep the V6, buy a GT, or wait for '08 models to arrive?

Ask yourself, what's the best approach? Are you power hungry and chomping at the bit? How much do you owe on the V-6? If you can pay off your V-6 in the near future(less than 18 months), or if it's already paid for, I'd say keep the six-pack and drive it into the ground and buy the Mustang of your choice once you see what you like/want/can afford. A GT500, Saleen S/C281, Roush Stage3, Bullit, Boss or Foose Stallion are all gonna cost over 50K. Maybe refinance your V-6 if you can get a better rate? Save your pennies and really get what you want. Like you stated, you're only 27(lucky!) and I'm sure there's no big rush, unless you're already convinced the time is NOW(ha-ha). If that's the case, I really dig the look of the Ca Special GT, I've seen them for around 30K MSRP and with incentives it wouldn't be impossible to walk out with 29-30K out the door price(decent suspension upgrade, a S/C and tune and some mild personal taste graphics/body mods and I'm sure you'll be south of 40K). If this is the case, then get rid of the V-6 ASAP and buy a GT and get going! Ford dealers are over stocked with GT's(at least here in the L.A. area) and negotiating a great price is easy right now, you might be able to save 3-6K versus an '08 GT(superchager money?) and from what I've read the '08 are gonna be carry overs(just trim and sublte paint differences), unless you're waiting for a niche Mustang(Bullit/Boss etc.). Just my 2 cents

Well if you get a GT would you power add to it? It will take you a lot of $$ to get all of the options that you already have on your V6, plus the dealer probaly will not give you jack for your customized V6. So if you are happy with GT power and like the looks of your car why not just supercharge your V6??
I make enough money I could afford payments on any mustang out there but I got a V6. I got a good price and can customize it to my liking (of course you can do this with GTs as well) It has enough power for me, but I may add a SC for the hell of it in the future.
That said my suggestion is SC or turbo the V6 now. Then wait for the 08, or 09 or until something comes out that you like better than what you have. Then sell the SC off you V6 (shouldn't lose to much $$ on this) sell the V6 and get you new ride. Don't be in a rush to spent the new cash just for the sake of spending it You got a sweet car now, and it look like you put a lot of thoutht, time and love into it : }

+1 on keeping the sixer!
Take the extra $$ you have and pay it off sooner to save on finance charges. Then, when that is done keep it as a DD and look for a garage queen. By then the 08's will be out and you can either get one of those or get a good deal on an 07.
OR
You could look to improving your current ride. There is alot that can be done to the 6er to spice it up.
