Default Replacement parts question

A question for anyone who might know. I had my rear axle replaced as part of a collision repair and just got the car back a few weeks ago.

I was taking off the winter tires today (hallelujah!) and noticed that the replacement axle tubes and LCA brackets were not painted. Did my body shop screw up or is that the way it's supposed to be?

I seriously doubt that all of the other rear suspension components would be painted and not the rear axle. So how loudly do I complain here?

Default RE: Replacement parts question

Rear axle is not painted from the factory, The LCA bracket on the car body is painted, the bracket on the axle is not.

Default RE: Replacement parts question

Tried to return your PM but it says that feature is turned off in your profile. I have never seen a solid back axle from the factory thats painted. They are so thick that they can rust for decades without problems. The inside is bathed in heavy oil which protects it. Your body shop did the right thing & the fact that you see some surface rust on your new axle is normal. Check your profile & see whats up with your PM feature or mabe it was a fluke.
