RE: SHELBY GT WORTH IT???
I have seen a few of the Shelby GT's around dealerships in Virginia and some, were surprisingly selling at MSRP. Some had a slight markup but the ones selling at MSRP were gone from the lot in less than a week's time. I suspect that GT500's would move justas fast if dealers would sell at MSRP. If Ford continues to build them, prices will likely come down when the new Camaros and Challengers, along with whatever new Mustang modelsFord release start hitting the show rooms.
Someone else on here already said it and I agree . . . many of us will not be around by the time any of these cars become "classics" and very few cars appreciate in value until they are classics.

RE: SHELBY GT WORTH IT???
I think $49K is a rip off. Don't get me wrong...gorgeous car!
But considering that it's a GT Mustang with only 19 (not 40) more HP, Shelby badges, stripes, Hurst shifter and Shelby signed dash. I think the markup is insane honestly!
Last weekend, I saw my first Shelby GT in person though at my local Ford dealer. They were having a car show that we went to and they took it out of the showroom and put it on the lawn. To my surprise, there was NO markup on this car. They wanted $32,000 which was only $1200 more than the black GT/CS they had. It's still there...they had it for 2 weeks so far. All the GTs there cost between $24-28K, one GT/CS (white) costs $29K and fully equipped V6s cost between $20-22K. So I think that's why the Shelby hasn't sold. Too many good deals on the GTs. I have pictures I took that I will post as soon as I get them uploaded.
The new Roush is nice but I'm thinking it's going to be overpriced as well. I like the Shelby better and I think I'd rather buy aGT and do it up myself than buy a Roush.

I'd have to say most definitely no- not for $49K.
The GT-H has 319 h.p., not 340.
Ford first said it had 325 then revised that down to 319.
If you bought the exact same FRPP and handling package that comes on the GT-H for your regular GT (for only a little more than $3K dealer-installed), then that means you'd be paying something like $17K or $18K just for those Shelby appearance modifications (including the fake hood scoop and fake side scoops)!
I'd love to have a GT-H for the msrp, but $49K is a rip-off IMO.

Considering that it is a GT with Ford Racing parts with S H E L B Y sticker and the parts are installed by Shelby, does it really make the car a Shelby ?
Any backyard shop can install the parts, it's not that difficult.
But, if the Shelby had e.g. 350-400 horses under the hood, that would make it a Shelby.
