The way I drive it would be an extra $300 per year. I almost over shot the office this morning as I was racing a co-workers GT on the way in. God those light posts go by fast.

ok....your bought a mustang, not a f'ing toyota. Quit being a *****, you dont deserve to drive the car. its only about an extra $100 a year for higher octane.

I look at it this way....for every 10 gallons you pay 2 dollars more.... so that's what?? like an extra 3 bucks a tank...or approx 1 gallon less fuel vs 87 octane...

Thats not much money......less than a coffee at some places....1/2 a pack of smokes... Even if ya filled up every day, that's less money over a month that ya'd spend on a night at the bar....and thats IF ya filled up every day!

I guess your right, my last vehicle which was my daily driver was a '96 Bronco with 33" mud tires and got about 12 mpg. So i'm still saving gas driving my mustang.

I'd like to keep the 87 octane, also. Can you do a power tune without increasing the octane. I know on my motorcycle, a Power Commander has smoothed out throttle response with no increase in octane.[sm=insomnia.gif]

Thanks

As I stated above, a tune using any octane is well worth it. Brenspeed and B ama can do tunes for any octane you want, but really you should just get higher oct.....there is no reason you cant get 91!

If you are going to spend the money for a tunner, go with 91/93 octane. If money is an issue, dont buy the tunner to begin with.... Is an extra 5-7hp increase from 87 to 93 octane.

I have a question... As we all scurry to put the stock intake back on before she takes a trip to the stealership, will the 87 tune from brenspeed work with the stock intake, or do you need to keep the stock tune on the tuner as well? I know most of the tuners can keep 3 tunes, but I want to be able to run 87, 91 or 93. I've had trips before where you get stuck in Boondock, WV and they don't know what 93 octane is.. Never again.. anyways, back to topic...
