Default Ported bass in a vert.

What are you guys opinions on getting the most bass out of a vert? Im willing to toss almost all my space in the trunk for a nice box (custom if need be) but im looking for what u guys have done.

Louder the better, Im lookin for around 140db

I was under the impression that ported boxes were better for SUVs, vans and the like... things with alot of open air room around the box. I think you would be better off with a bandpass box, its more expensive but personally I think they sound better. Im not an audio expert though, so thats JMO.

Ported boxes sound like crap if they aren't tuned properly. They are the way to go for SPL though. I'd find a local QUALITY installer and tell them what you are looking for. I'm not sure how much you know about car audio but stay away from Best Buy/Circuit City like the plague. Your going to need a crap load of sound deadening material to handle that much power as well.

I know about sound and have my local installer. Its just anybody ive talked too that is big into radios including the people who put on the compititions localy all say that a vert is hard to get good bass out of.

Ive also been told putting a fold down arm rest is one of the easiest ways but thats really expensive on a leather car.

If a fold down armrest in the rear is good but too expensive, why not just fold down one of both sides of the rear seats?

You're right! Duh! I should know that. I used to have the coupe and was just remembering that I could fold the seats down. Forgot that wasn't an option in the vert.

Please forget my stupid response above.

You can buy FRPP Stingers, and when you want a base type sound, drive 1800 rpm - the drone is almost like constant bass [sm=groupwave.gif]

I had my local shop build me a box for a single 15". Ended up being 3.2cuft tuned to 34hz. Sounds great but i dont have much trunk room anymore. Btw if you dont already have a sub/subs bought check out www.ficaraudio.com . I bought the BL fully loaded and it slams. Run around 1500rms and you will be happy...trust me

P.S. Make sure you get at least 2 layers of dynamat or more before you get your box built. I think i was charged $350 for 2 layers and for the box. Expensive becuase the box has to be built inside the trunk. No dynamat=major rattling
