Default Keeping a sub in place...

I don't have the Shaker, but I have a single sub in my trunk that I want to keep from sliding around. How do you guys without the shakers keep them in? I was think about getting some brackets, but I don't know if that will be bad for the plywood trunk bottomover time...would it just make the holes get bigger since the sub box is so heavy?

I haven't look in my trunk for the mounting location but there should be mounts for the shacker 1000 sub on the passenger side.

You can buy a box that fits in stock shaker 1000 spot and there is a hole were you put the bolt to hole the box.

Thanks, but it's too late for the box that fits because I already have one that was put in. I have some extra stuff in the trunk to keep it from sliding too far, but I want to take that stuff out for something else that I don't want the sub to crush...

Take the woofer out and screw throught the bottom of the box into your trunk floor. All you need is a 1" machine screw.I used a 11/4" DeckMate screw with some silicone sealant on it. It goes through real easy. Just check underneath where you're srewing first to make sure the area is clear.

Drilling is a good option, when I put a box in a spot though with the gas tank underneath it or didn't want to drill I made a new trunk floor out of 1/2in plywood. Shape it using the stock floor, make a cutout for you subbox, and wrap it with carpet. Works great and wedges in place. Just make sure your not putting pressure on any plastic trim.

A temporary fix would be bunge cords. You could also access the spare.

You can use Steel "L" brackets from home depot/lowes. Usewood screws into the box and self tapping metal screws to mount the sub box to the trunk floor. Be aware of what is below the surface you are drilling into. Use the shortest screw for the job.

chidrock:

velcro. i had the exact same problem as you, and i was afraid to drill holes because i thought they might damage the plywood. my dad happened to have some scraps from old sheets of velcro lying around, so i cut small rectangles of the scratchy half of the velcro and put two pieces back-to-back with the adhesive sides touching to make double-sided scratchy velcro. i only had to cut two rectangles about 1.5" x 3" each and i stuck them in between the sub box and the trunk carpet and my sub hasn't moved since

Take out your spare, put the box in your wheel well. It won't move. Thats how I have mine (No trunk space though)
