Default Brand New Saleen Questions~

I'm a brand new member on here and this is my first post and I would love to hear as much feedback as possible on this subject.Afew months backI went ahead and decided to take ahuge step up from owning a 2001 V6 mustang for 5 years to buying an 06 Saleen Supercharged S-281. It was definately a decision I don't regret and never will. My question is to anyone with knowledge or opinions on what this beast is capable of being in the future. To rephrase that I would extremely appreciate as many posts on what I could do to bring this "435hp" carto asmean as physically possible keeping the stock 281 engine. Lets pretend money is no object because my plan is to eventually make this car in the very low 3 second 0-60. Thanks for your time.

I haven't done much more than cold air intake and tuner to mine, but I would think that forged internals, +++, would be necessary to get into the low 3 second zero to 60 times.

Sell it! Buy a Z06 and put a S/C on that and then your 3 sec 0-60.I dont even think the Saleen Extreme does low 3 sec 0-60 in fact I know it doesn't. I mean a 1992 Ferrari F40 does 3.8 a new Z06 does 3.5 ( I think) You would need to upgrade the engine,Tranny, gears, Suspension (a little more) I think a low 3 sec 0-60 would put you in the 10 sec range in the 1/4. Good luck

the new ZO6 does 0-60 in 3.8 (and that is with a great driver, so i would say you would get an average of 4 seconds), but it is till freakin fast, but it is more fun to make something go into the 3 second range if you have the money, plus the new ZO6 is kinda expensive but so was your saleen

I'm no expert but I am learning as rapidly as i can.... So you have the Saleen S/C, is it the upgraded one... (stage 2/ MAF, 39# Injectors etc?) If not, get that done 1st...then have it dyno tuned instead of the crap stock Saleen Tune... then possibly think about a Gear change...I'm not sure what's in there, but gears will help ya accelerate faster... but you'll loose top end speed...

And even at that, a 3 second 0-60 might be tough...but that also has alot to do with the driver....and getting the car to hook, along with shifting...Plus, I wouldn't worry so much about numbers....unless your going to the track....worry about the fun factor...

I definately don't want a new car. I have always been a mustang man since I was young. I bought this car for the handling/suspension parts, the style and it's origin. I'm def. not a chevy guy, but I have nothing against them. Thanks again for the feedback.

+1 IMO fun factor rules, don't worry too much about getting into the high 3's, you have a Saleen, you can beat most cars out there

Its the stock supercharged version. It has a 3.55 gear (no max grip 3.73)

Evolution Performance has the Shelby GT500 that does a 9 second 1/4 mile.

9.96 @ 141.45 mph

http://www.evoperform.com/videos.htm

As far as 0-60 in a low 3 range...that might be hard to pull off.

Alright, so you probably wanna get the S/C upgrade kit, then have it dyno tuned.... I was talkin to the guys at the shop today, and the general consensus is that 3.73 would give ya a little more acceleration, somewhat noteciable but not necessary when your putting somewhere around 450 HP to the rear....

There is a difference between a race car and a road car....3 second 0-60 would seem to me that your entering race car territory, and that wouldn't be any fun to drive on the road.... I think you have a very good head start cause I believe that it's not just engine that has been upgraded on your car...better suspension will go along way on getting the power to the road...There isn't alotta point in having +400 HP if ya can't use it.
