Default FRPP Exhaust

Ok I was reading this thread

https://mustangforums.com/m_2367604/mpage_4/key_/tm.htm

There is talk of a FRPP GTA exhaust made by supreme.

Towards the end there is talk of a FRPP GT made by Borla.

Here is the link to the ones I'm going to buy, UNLESS they are not the ones to go with

http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=7707

I can get them from a dealer here in town thats 4 miles away for $100.00 less then the price there. Ford part number: M-5230-5GT

I noticed people were buying the FRPP GTA for MUCH less around christmas time. I just want to know that these are the ones being talked about towards the end, the ones made by borla.

I also heard this clip and would be happy with those mufflers, which I understand to be the ones I am thinking of buying:

Any insight would be great, I want to head there during lunch to buy them!

and I'm thinking of buying this too! I think thats the combo in the video.

so stoked! just need some input!

Thanks guys!

The FRPP GT's are the Stingers... I believe they're made by Borla, as are the Steeda's. I spoke with one of the guys at Steeda and he said that theirs are made by Borla, and have a slight variation from the Borla and FRPP Stingers... As you can see, I have the FRPP Stingers, and absolutely love them. It has such a nice loud throaty sound (only semi-obnoxious)

From my understanding, the GTA's are not the ones made by Borla, they are made by supreme and look like normal mufflers. They are louder than stock and are the stock equipment for the Shelby GT. The GT's are the ones made by Borla and are the straight through design. These are even louder, 49 state legal (yay CA), and apparently have a bit of drone in the 1800-2000 rpm range that the GTA's do not.

M 5230 5GT = Borla
M 5230 5GTA = Supreme (I think the numbers are the same but can't find it now ... either way, it says GTA at the end instead of GT)

EDIT: The GT's (stingers) are more expensive ($460+) and the GTA's are less expensive ($300 or so).

The Ford Racing mufflers (5230-5GT) are made by Borla. These mufflers are quite agressive sounding, and also known as "Stingers". There is some drone with these mufflers. They are cylinder shaped, have 3 1/2" chrome rolled tips, and most importantly are made out of superiorT-304 grade stainless steel.

The Ford Racing mufflers (5230-GTA) mufflers ARE NOT made by Borla. Rumor has it they are made by Supreme. These mufflers are throatier than stock, buty are not as aggressive as the "Stingers". No obnoxious drone. These mufflers are oval in shape, have 4" double wall chrome tips, and are made out of inferior T-409 grade stainless steel.

After much research and careful consideration of the above mufflers, as well as the Steeda (which are allegedly made by Borla, but have 3 1/2" stainless slash tips, andhas drone), I opted totrade my MACs for a set of Borla 11752. These mufflers arelouder and throatier than stock, but at open throttle really roar. However, they arenot as aggressive as the Borla 11750 "Stingers". There is no obnoxious drone, have 4" chrome rolled tips, are made of T-304 stainless steel, and are awesome!

P.S. My MACS are for sale for $300 (incl. S&H). If interested, let me know

I drove a 2007 GT with Roush "stingers" (also made by Borla). They had a nice sound, but they DRONED like hell from 1800-2000 RPM. It was very annoying.

I bought a different 2007 GT and put on the FRPP-GTA's which are indeed made by Supreme and are indeed the stock muffler on the Shelby GT. They areslightly deeper in sound as comparedto stock from idle up to about 3000 RPM under light acceleration. Get on it hard, or after 3000 RPM and they have a real nice deep throaty roar!

The tips are double walled 4 inch polished stainless (and not just rolled over).

Everyone who has heard them say they sound very nice. And, NO DRONE!!

Ditto on scotty07. I love my supreme GTAs. No drone, stainless, beautiful flaired tips, easy install, great muscle car sound. Not only Shelby, but Foose also uses them. Cheap - ninosport for $260 free shipping

I would not get the x-pipe with the stingers. The x-pipe will be raspier not as deep. If you want some extra HP and a deeper, louder sound then get the pypes o/r h-pipe with the stingers. It is what you heard in the clip.

According to my copy of the 07 FRPP catalog, the 5GTs (stingers) are listed at $529. The GTAs are priced at $325. Steeda has the stinger listed for $399.95. Only difference between the FRPP 5GT and the Steeda A/B is the stainless tip.

$430 and the FRPP are around 15 more at several places
